2009 Conference
Our annual conference will be on September 30, 2009 at the Hotel Utica. The topic is "Breastfeeding Beginnings" with Laura Keegan, author of: Breastfeeding with Comfort and Joy: A Photographic Guide for Mom and Those Who Help Her. Her stated mission is to bring breastfeeding back to humanity with a new comfort zone promoting both peace and health.
Laura is a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in clinical practice for over 20 years. She maintains a holistic solo private family practice in Dutchess County, New York. She previously worked for Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, the Institute for Urban Family Health in Manhattan, the Peekskill Area Health Center and Riverside Pediatrics in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Her formal education includes a Bachelor of Science with Highest Honors majoring in Physiology from the University of California at Davis. Her nursing education includes two Master of Science degrees from Pace University.
In her career, Laura has helped hundreds of breastfeeding women who came to her with significant problems and hundreds of others who she helped to get started in establishing a comfortable breastfeeding relationship. Her best teachers have been moms and babies, and her expertise is drawn from her years of work with breastfeeding women. Laura views every mom and baby as a unique pair of individuals that she is honored to care for during this sacred time.
Laura is the mother of four children, all breastfed.

February 7, 2007 - Baby Friendly Workplace Awards
Honored today are the Bagel Grove, Mohawk Valley Perinatal Network and Dr. Julie Polanski.
Our certain criteria required to be considered a “Family Friendly” establishment include:
- The establishment welcomes breastfeeding mothers
- The establishment has a changing table/station available
- The establishment has highchairs available
Additional criteria include:
- The establishment provides activities for children
- The establishment has a written breastfeeding policy
- The establishment has a private place for a mother to nurse
- The establishment has a changing table/station in both restrooms
